Growing up in Mr KnoxFoodie house, fried okra was just cornmeal and okra. No egg. No flour. Just okra, cornmeal and oil (lard or bacon grease) in a cast iron skillet almost burned! You can’t really find that even with the best renditions of restaurant okra because it’s not easy to do on restaurant scale! It’s really nostalgic… And I hated it as a kid but now I love it!
