Just north of the Gay Street viaduct in what used to be Regas Restaurant sits a cozy new coffee shop from Vienna Coffee Company. We were invited in and greeted by chief barista, Cody, and we were felt instantly at home. The exterior is still a work in progress but the interior is expertly appointed for both business and pleasure. Boasting a fireplace surrounded by comfortable seating as well as another relaxed seating area we were not surprised we spent over an hour sipping our lattes and enjoying the atmosphere.

his location offers a variety of brewed coffee, espresso drinks and teas but they also serve what appeared to be a large selection of food. The food menu is mostly comprised of shareable snacks like chips and dips, sandwiches and desserts. They do have a pastry case for simpler breakfast items like muffins that looked pretty delish.

We had already eaten lunch but were certainly not going to pass up coffee so we asked Cody to make two lattes with almond milk for us. We did ask if the almond milk was unsweetened due to our Whole30 January status and, it is. We found some comfortable chairs by the large windows and awaited our order. Within minutes Cody delivered two steaming hot lattes and we were not disappointed! The espresso and almond milk combination provided a balance between bitterness and sweetness that you just cannot get at your big box coffee shops. It warmed us from the inside while the expansive windows facing the sun warmed us on the outside.

This new spot is a good cross between work space and chill space. It’s situated at the corner of Gay St and Magnolia Ave so parking is a cinch. Just look for the parking lot under the I-40 bridge on Magnolia for free parking, or try the metered spaces on Gay St. It’s also a short walk from the 100 Block or the Old City!

Vienna Coffee House offers a variety of events like brewing classes and cupping classes where you learn how to taste coffee. Here’s two of their next events. Visit them on social media for more details.

January 27 – Free Cupping Class

February 17 – Brewing Coffee at Home
