Jackie tormenting her happy crew
Sure middle Tennessee has Nashville Hot Chicken, but we’ve got Jackie’s Dream! On the occasion of Mrs. KnoxFoodie’s birthday we met some friends here. If you live in Knoxville, you’ve probably heard of this unassuming little spot lately. It’s gained quite the following. We lucked up on this day since it was Easter, there wasn’t a crowd. But on a normal day, you may see the line stretch outside the door most of the day so be prepared for a wait.

Some of the humblest places have the best food!
At Jackie’s place, you will be greeted by a crew of very happy employees and Jackie herself may yell a big hello from across the room. Within moments of sitting down, you will think she’s your best friend! Her specialty is chicken even though her daily specials like spaghetti and hamburger steak always sound tempting, you just can’t pass up the chicken. To accompany your meal, are Southern soul sides that you would expect like mashed potatoes, pinto beans, mac & cheese, and green beans.
The table opted for a plate of Fried Green Tomatoes with delicious green tomato jam. A generous helping was delivered to the table by our exuberant server, Denisha. A perfect, thick but not to thick, cornmeal coating crusted each delicious tomato.

Our hilarious server for the afternoon made us feel right at home!
I opted for Habanero Hot Chicken which is very hot, but still won’t make you feel like you need to go to a burn center for treatment. Mildly sweet and tangy sauce coats each large piece and still retains its crispness. Topped with a pickle to allegedly help balance the burn and a piece of white bread to soak up the sauce that doesn’t remain on the bird, I didn’t really need a side. I’d be hard-pressed to say that any of those famous hot chicken places were any better than this!

The Fried Chicken
Mrs Knoxfoodie had the Fried Chicken which was crispy and not greasy at all. We shared several sides and they reminded me of the country veggies that my mother made in my youth. There was no shortage of pork fat seasoning the green beans and that’s just how it should be! Dessert was a big helping of Banana Pudding brought out to the birthday girl.

Our friends who have become regulars at Jackie’s Dream!
Do yourself a favor and make Jackie’s Dream a dinner spot soon! You will feel welcomed like you’re family and leave with a full belly and sticky fingers! Our friends have been back about twice a week since we first introduced them to Jackie’s Dream!

Happy Birthday Mrs. KnoxFoodie!
